AMARC celebrates World Press Freedom Day 2016 - Access to Information and Fundamental Freedoms: This Is Your Right!

The World Association of Community Broadcasters (AMARC) joins the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and all media stakeholders, international freedom of expression organizations and national associations struggling for communication rights to celebrate World Press Freedom Day and pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

AMARC condemns threats against Syrian community radio ARTA FM

The World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC) is deeply concerned by the act of vandalism and intimidation perpetrated against the headquarters and the staff of ARTA FM, an independent community radio station located in Amudah, in the north-east of Syria, the acts of intimidation and the death threats against its Executive Director, Sefqan. AMARC condemns in the strongest terms any acts that threaten the safety and independence of media workers.

Community Radio seminar on Disaster Risk Reduction – In Commemoration of the Tragic Earthquake in Nepal and in Recognition of the Role of Community Radios

AMARC Asia-Pacific, the regional chapter of the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC), is organizing a seminar to mark the first year since the massive earthquake that struck Nepal on 25 April 2015 and to review the role of community radios in the aftermath of the disaster. The seminar will be held in Kathmandu on 21 April 2016.
