Welcome to the AMARC website Through service to members, networking and project implementation, the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters AMARC, brings together a network of more than 4,000 community radios, Federations and community media stakeholders in more than 115 countries. The main global impact of AMARC since its creation in 1983, has been to accompany and support the establishment of a world wide community radio sector that has democratized the media sector. AMARC advocates for the right to communicate at the international, national, local and neighbourhood levels and defends and promotes the interests of the community radio movement through solidarity, networking and Cooperation.
AMARC and partners disseminated BCO social impact assessment of community radio in Nepal
July 17, 2008, Kathmandu, Nepal. “How do theoretical approaches to social impact assessment interface with experiences of practitioner’s and stakeholders of community radios?” was the main theme of discussion of the seminar organised in Kathmandu on July 15, 2008. About 70 participants representing community radio sector of Nepal, stakeholder organisations, donor agencies and academia participated in the program entitled “Social Impact Assessment of Community Radio.” It was organised jointly by Community Radio Support Centre (CRSC/NEFEJ), Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (ACORAB) and the Asia Pacific region of the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC Asia Pacific).
FOR ITS 25th ANNIVERSARY IN AFRICA, AMARC ANNOUCES ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN OUR MEDIA 7
Montreal, 4 August, 2008. The World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters AMARC announced today that it will be very actively participating in the Our Media 7 Conference to be held in Accra, Ghana from August 11 to 15, 2008. The activities will be part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of AMARC, the unique global network of Community Radio. Within the framework of Our Media, African members of AMARC Africa will be carrying an important consultation workshop entitled “What Vision for a Community Radio Network in Africa: Rebuilding the AMARC Africa Network” in preparation of the Pan African Conference and general Assembly to be held by AMARC African members in April 2009.
AMARC JAPAN ANNOUNCES G8 SUCCESFUL RADIO FORUM COVERAGE
July 10 2008 Sapporo Japan. The Japan group of the World Association if Community Radio Broadcasters, AMARC, annouced the end of a succesful ten-day coverage by the Radio Forum of the G8 summit in Tokayo and civil society alternative activities in Sapporo. The coverage was a first for AMARC Japan and was done in collaboration with AMARC global network in Asia-Pacific, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and Europe. AMARC Radio Forum for G8 Starts in Japan
July 4 2008 Sapporo, Japan. AMARC Japan Working Group and CR journalists from all regions of AMARC, including Pulsar news Agency, have started the Radio Forum in Sapporo, Japan to cover alternative civil society activities as well as the official G8 summit, which is scheduled to be held from July 7-9, 2008 in Hokkaido.
