The production is a radio documentary and report on the biggest International Women’s Day commemoration in the Philippines on March 8, 2016. It talked about the gathering in downtown Manila where a programme was held, punctuated by speeches by women detailing the challenges they faced under the outgoing Benigno Aquino government.
Specifically, they said that one Filipina is raped every 40 minutes and one is victimized by violence every 20 minutes. The Philippines is also one of the top originators of victims of women trafficking. Women workers are also more marginalized in the work places because of their gender.
The report focused on the political struggle of organized women in the Philippines who fight for women’s rights in the face of a criminally neglectful government.
