A Worldwide Sanitary Emergency with a Female Face: Zika Virus Outbreak in Latin America

On February 1st 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a Worldwide Sanitary Emergency related to the Zika virus disease (ZVD), after the vertiginous spread of reported cases in Latin America (LA), especially in Brazil and Colombia. In a documentary format the project argue that, pending confirmation of the medical consequences of ZVD in newborn babies, the international community is facing the first worldwide sanitary emergency that is specially focused on women in reproductive age, with specific implications for their health and well-being according to the restriction in sexual and reproductive rights in LA region.
