Girls Education and Gender Discrimination in Nepal


Women have long been facing diffrent sorts of discriminations in Kapilvastu. A large number of girls, from Madhesi, Dalit, as well as other socially excluded and disadvantaged groups, have been suffering from different kinds of domestic and gender-based violence that have deprived them of their schooling as well as access to justice and development services and participation in the local development planning and community development processes. A survey conducted by CARE Nepal on 236 girl children in Kapilvastu district shows that 94% of their mother are illiterate.
